Takashi Miike Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over Gory Hulu Series, ‘Connect’

It turns out that Takashi Miike’s 6-part series, Connect is a very unexpected surprise. By unexpected, I mean almost nobody knew that this thing had come out. Even die-hard Miike fans are in total shock on socials. The typical response from those fans are made up of “wait what?” or the more classic and to the point, “yooooooo what?”.

This is occurring for a mostly understandable reason. Outside of a few horror outlets releasing peeks earlier in the week, Miike’s Connect has been a secretive, quiet release. I mean it is to the point where you have to go in and manually search for the title. That is kinda crazy considering that this is the director of Audition and Ichi the Killer.

The synopsis for Miike’s Connect breaks down like this:

Connect” stars Jung Haein (“Snowdrop,” “Something in the Rain”) as Ha Dongsoo – a new immortal mankind called ‘Connect’ kidnapped by a gang of organ harvesters who are determined to take his eyes. After suddenly waking on an operating table following the surgery, Dongsoo is able to escape without one eye, and later discovers that he can still see out of his missing eye, which is now being used by a serial killer who has been terrorizing the residents of Seoul. Determined to get back what was taken, Dongsoo will pursue the serial killer, taking whatever steps are necessary to make himself whole again.

This insanely gory clip is an amalgamation of classic Miike work along with a bonkers tentacled alien being reminecent of John Carpenter’s The Thing. Be sure to give that clip a peek below.

Connect is based on a webtoon created by Shin Dae-sung and adapted by Miike.

Okay, now that you know Connect is real and indeed streaming on Hulu, be sure to tell everyone you know. So that Miike fans and their tiny dogs can enjoy the awesome ride that is Connect.

Connect is now streaming on Hulu. Depending on where you are on the globe it is possible that Connect may also be playing on Disney+. Check local listings.
