Samsung and Yamaha have developed a smart windshield concept for motorcycles, and while the tech is interesting, we aren’t entirely sure it would be a good idea. The design seems pretty similar to heads-up displays already included in many autos, projecting speed, directions and other information (like calls and texts) onto the windshield. The company hasn’t released too much information on how the demo is meant to actually work, but it seems like it is only for two-wheeled machines and was created to reduce driving distractions. At first glance, it seems like the tech would only lead to more road danger for motorcyclists, who are already around 35 times more likely to get in a crash than someone driving a car. However, if you’re the type who reads texts while driving a motorcycle or scooter, it’s probably better to be reading them from your windshield than fiddling with your smartphone.
